What is the C2PA? Everything you need to know about the C2PA project

The Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) is an association established in February 2021, comprising Adobe, Arm, BBC, Intel, Microsoft, and Truepic. Its primary objective is to define and implement an open, royalty-free industry standard that enables credible information about the origin, editing history, and publisher identity of digital content. This standard aims to combat disinformation effectively. C2PA represents a merger of the efforts made by two prior associations, CAI and "Project Origin," to create a cohesive framework that encompasses their shared goals and previous work.

C2PA brings together the endeavors of the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), led by Adobe, which focuses on establishing context and history for digital media, and Project Origin, spearheaded by Microsoft and BBC, addressing disinformation within the digital news ecosystem.

In a significant event held on January 26, 2022, C2PA hosted discussions among policymakers, academics, and industry leaders to chart the future course of responsible digital media creation, publication, and sharing.
